When I was in grade six, I came across Mt. 4:19: “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” I identified myself with the disciples, but after a few weeks, felt that it was too easy to interpret it as God’s calling. During a special meeting, I was moved to […]

Many Things I Need to Know I Learned at BSOP

By Perlita Tan (Class 1999)
I’ve always been grateful to God for leading me to undergo, and helping me to finish, formal training for full-time Christian ministry at BSOP. But after going into cross-cultural mission work, my attitude has changed! I became even more grateful!

Him We Proclaim

Preaching Christ from All the Scriptures by Dennis E. Johnson (Presbyterian & Reformed, 2007, 493pp.)
Preaching, I admit is a difficult task, but an important, sacred task that has been entrusted to the ministers of God’s Word. Since I have in my possession several homiletic textbooks, and books on preaching are not scarce in the market, so […]

Trends Among the Chinese-Filipino Churches in the Third Millennium[i]

By Joseph Shao, Ph.D.
God has blessed the Chinese-Filipino churches through generations of faithful believers and worshippers, even as different spiritual waves surged in and out. In the third millennium, the world has witnessed changing trends in fashion, food and faith. Likewise, there are various changes noted in the churches. We need to prepare and face […]

A Model of True Worship

By Samuel Pan, Ph.D.
When God sent Moses to bring the Israelites out from the Egyptians’ bondage, he wanted them to “worship” him (Exod. 3:12; 4:23; 8:1, NIV).
