ATTENDANCE AND TARDINESS

A. Absences amounting to more than 20% of the total number of classes within a quarter will be given a grade of 5.00 (fail). Excused absences must fall within

1. 6 class hours for a 3-unit course
2. 4 class hours for a 2-unit course

3. 2 class hours for a 1-unit or non-credit course

B. A student must request the seminary chaplain to sign an excuse slip immediately after missing a class. He/she must then present the excuse slip to the respective instructor(s) before he/she is allowed to attend the next class. Otherwise, the absence is unexcused. The instructor forwards the excuse slip to the Registrar’s office for filing.

C. Being tardy three times in a course is equivalent to one absence.

D. Exceptions as in the case of prolonged illness, should be certified by a physician.

E. One unexcused absence in a course results in deduction of one level from the final grade point (e.g. final grade becomes 1.50 if it originally should have been 1.25).
