Summer Internship
Guidelines Specifically for Summer Internship
Most of the general procedures of weekend practicum guidelines are applicable for summer internship, in terms of requests, regulations, evaluation, and spiritual formation as well as character development for the intern. However, some particular guidelines for further reference are as follows:
1. The period of the summer internship is 6-week long, usually divided into two parts: 2-week of church camps and 4-week long or one-month provincial church ministry exposure.
2. The pastor or the OIC (officer-in-charge) of the church involved would be the Field Supervisor, working and supervising the student-intern, guiding him/her in any area of ministry available. A separate form (from the BSOP field education coordinator / director) appraising the intern’s performance would be filled and completed by the said field supervisor and sent back to BSOP field education department.
3. The church involved would provide moderate accommodation to the student-intern-food and lodging, during the intern’s stay for the practicum period.
4. The church involved, if affordable, would remit the airfare of the intern for the exact amount round-trip fare, that is, from BSOP to the practicum cite and back to the intern’s place of destination, home. (This is because many of our students come from localities outside Metro-Manila. Thus, for such students, their hometown would be their final place of destination. However, this should exclude any side trips or tour taken by the said intern, before or after their internship period).
5. A monthly honorarium fee, for one-month summer church internship, averaging between PhP 3,000 to 4,000 (as of school year 1999-2000), for the said intern would be greatly appreciated, however, this is not mandatory to the church involved.
