BSOP Appoints Dr. Neil Allan Ty as New President

[Manila, 06 June 2022]. The Biblical Seminary of the Philippines [BSOP] announced today that Dr. Neil Ty has been appointed new President of the seminary. An experienced educator, Dr. Ty will succeed Rev. Anthony Hao and assume responsibilities on the first of July, 2022. After much prayer, Rev. Hao announced that the Lord has called him to return to pastoral ministry and he will be moving back to Riverside, California to be near his elderly parents.

Dr. Ty currently serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for Biblical Linguistics Exploration, as well as the Regional Director for the Chinese Christian Fellowship International, Philippines. He has a Ph.D in New Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is married to Aileen and they have two children: Hannah and Noah. They are members of Union with Christ Community Church led by BSOP alumnus, Rev. Billy Arcayan.

“Dr. Neil Ty possesses the academic qualification, passion for teaching as well as the heart for the Filipino-Chinese and Chinese churches to lead BSOP in its next season of growth,” stated Elder Simoun Ung, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Biblical Seminary of the Philippines. “On behalf of the Board, we thank Rev. Anthony Hao for his tremendous contributions over the past thirteen years in senior leadership positions, including the last three years as President. We are grateful for his continued service to BSOP during this transition and beyond.”

“I am thankful for the opportunity to have led BSOP in its ministry to prepare God’s people to serve among and through the Filipino-Chinese churches. I share a deep passion for the ministry and pray that my successor will continue, as found in Ephesians 4:12, ‘to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up,’” said Rev. Hao. “Rest assured of my continued prayers and support for BSOP and for Dr. Neil Ty.”
