Spiritual Formation: Prayer and the Christian Life

Course Description: The purpose of this course is to encourage and stimulate a growing and meaningful life of Christian devotion in the midst of our frenetic and highly secularized culture. Attention will be given to biblical teaching and classic historical insights on prayer and spirituality. Practical assignments and directed experiences of prayer will provide opportunities to move beyond theory to spiritual formation.

Course Objectives:
That upon completion of this course, the student will:
1. Recognize and appreciate an authentic evangelical spirituality
2. Have an informed and practical understanding of prayer
3. Be acquainted with edifying devotional classics
4. Utilize classic and contemporary contributions on Christian spirituality, and
5. have crafted a personal plan to foster an ongoing and prayerful life in the Spirit
